The Journey to Africa: October 26, 2009 Blog from Facebook

God has been working in my life and I would like to take a moment to glorify HIM by telling you what God has been doing in my life :)

In 2007, God told me to go to nursing school. I was unsure and doubted God and myself. I went to take the Biology placement test because it was the one pre-req for nursing school. I told myself that if I was suppose to go to nursing school that I would pass the test so I would exempt Biology 103. The school called on Thursday and I was told that I would be taking the Biology test on that Monday. I went to school, borrowed an older copy of the Biology book, and crammed as much information as I could from Friday until Sunday night. I went that Monday morning, took the exemption test, and passed it in less than 30 minutes. Then I had another obstacle to over come I didn't have the GPA needed to enter nursing school. I prayed about that and told myself if I was suppose to go to nursing school then my GPA won't matter that I would be accepted anyways. I went for the interview, explained about my GPA, and was accepted into LPN school. However, I couldn't gather the money for my first semester of nursing school so I only took Anatomy the fall of 2007 and prayed the money would come for the spring semester of 2009 for me to start nursing school. I continued to work full time at my job that I had for forever during this time and continued to apply for scholarships for spring semester. About two weeks before the spring semester started, I was told unexpectedly that someone was going to give me a certain amount of money for my LPN nursing school while it wouldn't cover all the expenses it would help. I cried off and on a majority of that day...later that week I received a letter in the mail that I would also be receiving a $500 dollar scholarship that would pay for the rest of my tuition for the first semester. God provided the way for me to enter LPN school and even sent the money for it :) I went part time at my job and began LPN school in January of 2008. In October of 2008, I went with my sister to the Journey Deepens in Tyrone, GA, and felt God leading me to Africa for missions. I filled out my time table paper at the journey deepens and continued to feel the yearning to go to Africa but didn't know where or when I would be leaving. In December of 2008, I graduated LPN school :) I immediately started back school that following semester, took all my pre-req’s, applied for RN school, and was accepted to it for summer of 2009. The first semester of RN school was the most difficult and stressful school semester by far. I felt like quitting multiple times but finally wrote AFRICA on my rearview mirror and that helped me remember the greater cause for all of my hard times. I attended the Journey Deepens in October of 2009 with my husband. This time we could only stay for two days, but in that short time I met new friends and have been led to the next chapter of my journey with missions. I have felt the call to go to Niger Africa this coming up summer. At first, I was scared to death because of my weak human nature but after continual prayer the fear is gone and the same yearning I felt to go to nursing school has been with me every day since that day God has revealed part of his plan for my life. I have no money, no education about Niger or their hospital, no clue about their language, and no clue about what organization to go with but I know God will lead and guide me as I continue to follow the straight path that he has laid before me. Please pray for his continued guidance and that I will know without a doubt I am doing God's will for my life. Also, pray that the next short months that I will be adaptable to learning a new language and Niger's ways :)
