Soldier - August 30, 2020

My friends I love you and I need to tell you something that God showed me while talking to my awesome mentor this week.

A man joined the army, He fought hard for ones who didn't even know his struggles and he felt unhappy. He got hurt, and lost his excitement he first had upon enlistment. Someone from behind enemy lines talked him into coming over to their side. So now this man, lets call him Akuji,  he has two armies, one army he left for the other, the 2nd army is only using him for information and he is enslaved to them now. Akuji decides he has to get away from army number 2 and has tried but they keep finding him and dragging him back. They sneer " once a traitor always a traitor, you dog lay in your own ruin, you have a new master now". Akuji, more miserable now realizes his first army was more loyal than this one. He sneaks out and gets caught right between the armies as they begin war. Now which army sees Akuji as trustworthy? Neither of them. Which army sees Akuji as a traitor? Both of them, even though he helped the 2nd army, they know he is a traitor and they only used him. So now he is in the most dangerous place, between two armies and no protection because nobody knows where His loyalty lies. What should Akuji do? Its sad, the battle begins and he falls to the ground in fear, no more is he the brave soldier, now he is the coward fearful deserter. Isn't it ironic how one bad decision could destroy his identity and character? Akuji, was stupid right? None of us would ever do that.....
But we do every single day. We are a traitor to Jesus everytime we willingly sin. We abadon our battlefield to go play on the enemies side. Satan wants nothing more than for you to be trapped and ensnared by sinful habits, addictions, sex, deceit and pride. In the midst of our sin, we are blaming others for our choices. We may blame stress, work, family or past choices for our current sinful situations but at the end of the day we chose to go back behind enemy lines. The most dangerous place is to be outside of Gods will for your life, in rebellion or sin and blaming others for our entrapment. Pick a side you traitor. Stop playing and hiding in your sin and blaming others for your actions!  Pick a side you traitor, stop lying in Jezebel's house on Saturday then appearing perfect in church on Sunday. Pick a side traitor, stop gossipping and thinking you are better than everyone else. Pick a side you traitor.  You cant be IN the world and be IN Christ. You cant WIN in SIN. Pick a side traitor, the war is coming and you are in middle ground.

Why did I pick Akuji. The meaning says it all.

Akuji = dead and awake
