01/13/2020 - Tug a War

Last year, our residency class played tug of war. We were all pulling, but then someone started yelling 1, 2 pull. With this leader's direction, and new strategy, we quickly came together as a team and the team won. It was a moment I remember because I thought we were all pulling with all our strength but until we UNITED we were just getting tired and just going back and forth.
Sometimes in life we may feel tired or maybe you feel exhausted. Who are you walking through life with or are you trying to do everything yourself? Did you know the people you surround yourself with, will make a big difference in your life?
I attached a picture of a 4 person tug of war. Do you see the problem with this picture? 4 people going 4 different ways, trying to do 4 different things. Nothing in the center, no leader, no unity. Fighting to the death (if they are competitive like me). But what purpose does that serve God? What are we to do?
Lets look to the Bible to answer those questions.
Ephesians 4:11-16 KJV
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: [14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [15] But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: [16] From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Each member of the body of Christ has a specific calling and purpose. When we become aware of our calling, walk in God's design for our lives, and gather with others walking with God, then guess what. Re-Read verse 14: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Are you tired of being pulled and tossed around? Look at your surroundings. Who are you surrounding yourself with? Are they holding hands with God or holding hands with the devil? Stop allowing life to hold you back from your walk with God. Stop letting others unbiblical thoughts hold you back from what God spoke into your life. Find others going towards God, love others who arent and together walk as a team, shining bright, breaking down strongholds, making a difference in this world and leading the lost to the ONE who really matters and truly loves them. Unity for the Glory of God, let's do it.
God Bless!
